OS: WM6.1
WIMP - Where Is My Phone v. 1.3.0.0
Requirements: Windows Mobile 5 or 6 Phone, Internal GPS (it will work with an external GPS device, but obviously only when connected)
Overview: In the event of your phone being lost or stolen, you can simply send a specially formatted SMS text message to the phone and the W.I.M.P software will silently intercept it. W.I.M.P. will then send back a message containing the phone's GPS location in a format which can be entered into any common mapping application.
Image

OK - so someone steals your phone. What is the first thing they're going to do? Change the SIM card right? The W.I.M.P. application will automatically detect a change in the SIM card and send you a text message containing the new number. You can then use that number to track the device's location or even ring the phone!

W.I.M.P. will always run covertly in the background, it will even automatically start when you reset the phone ensuring it is always protected.

    Features
  • Runs silently and covertly in the background. It doesn't even show in the list of running programs.
  • Will send your phone's GPS coordinates via text message, allowing you to accurately track your phone's location using any common mapping application (e.g. http://maps.google.com)
  • If the SIM card is replaced on the phone, it will automatically send a text message informing you of the new number

Err... Wrong PIN? Are you sure you enter the code into the right box?
A quick how-to:
1. Open your phone app (press the green button) and enter *#06#
2. Enter your IMEI number into the keygen.
3. Open WIMP, enter 0000 as they first access key, you may change it later.
4. Open menu under the right softkey and choose to register, enter the key from keygen and voila...

ok thx for this, it actually works and rocks:)
maybe this is a silly question but I can't find the answer anywhere - how should this "specially formatted SMS text message" look like?

Well... Just test it... Send a text message from another phone with $WIMP[password] and wait for the answer. ;)

Hmm, when I enter *#06# and hit dial it says that the U.S. Cellular number is no longer in service. Any ideas?

henbone11 just go to start -> settings -> system -> system information = that's where your IMEI is displayed

Make sure you enter a 15 digit IMEI (AFAIK IMEI displayed in the app is a few digits short, you can find your valid IMEI number in settings or using an universal code: *#06#).

daisuke of course it wont send any message in such case.

I have a different problem. When I'm sending for example a message like this: $WIMP[3457]
where 3457 is my password,
I will receive a confirmation of delivery but the phone (wm6) won't send any message back... anybody else got this issue? no gps data, nothing at all. Only a confirmation from my network operator.
