And to clarify... (question 1) exclude regions in EU NT 2008 that you are gonna use with the local providers maps.

Following two reasons make me NOT agree your opinion:
1. Many (event most) users use the basemap available on Garmin website (the free one) which is NOT ROUTABLE whithout having knowledge that IT IS AVAILABLE another ROUTABLE World Basemap.
2. Some maps for specific countries (see post above regarding Poland) are well done in CNE even the Local Maps are far more detailed. Still, some info are available in CNE and not available in Local Maps.
That's why I will always recommend using combination of CNE and Local Maps.

P.S. This is only my personal opinion and should be use as is and not as a supreme truth

Good to know that, where is this routable worldmap? I will definitely install it.
its a copy/drag & drop img unlocked map?

How do you configure the overlapping regions (between CNE and local maps) so that the local maps are visible or have priority above CNE?

You have to define diferent drawing priorities in the maps. Not easy, but not impossible.
Another easy solution is inside gps/pda select only the maps we want to see in each occasion

Worldwide ROUTABLE basemap with DEM (terrain shading):

Regarding combining maps extracted from CNE with local maps for same countries - sometimes I believe that you are seeing the complicated part of the matter. Having the maps in MapSource just combine them (for example Bulgaria from CNE with OFRM 4.60) and send them to device/card/flash memory. You will get the corresponding gmapsupp.img file which can be used everywhere (as soon as maps has been unlocked totally with Garmin Unlocker).
Few posts up I have posted a link with a gmapsupp.img file containing this kind of combination (CNE + Local Maps) for Eastern Europe countries (full Ex Yugoslavia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey). It was in my intention to include Greece ADH too but unfortunately still no 'original' MapSource file available for ADH. Please test this compilation and let me know your opinion.

Regards...

rbscotland:

Thanks for the DEM map, I will try it.

Regarding the CNE+Local maps, I will compile my own needed regions and try it with overlapping.

If this will work, (until now my way of compiling did not gave me any problems)
this way will increase a lot the map (img) it will be around APROX 4 gb then.

That's true...that's why I am advising anyone who have time to listen that the best way is to have all maps in MapSource and transfer them to device WHEN YOU NEED THEM. It's a matter of minutes to find over the internet any map you want (at least for Europe) in MapSource format, download it, install it and use it. I don't think that somebody might be in need of FULL EUROPE today and any trip he will plan it will be enough time to transfer desired maps to device.
I do agree that copy/paste solution is the simplest way but...come on, we only need some readings

but obviously there are really lots of users out there that prefer this way.

(Seeing my logs on download services)

Thanks for all your opinions...I guess I started some nice discussion.

Yeah, I selected both (the CNE plus local maps) of a region, but when Im searching for a destination (address) It gives me options to look either in the Local map, or in CNE. Depending on which I choose to search, that map is being displayed on my route.

To give an example: I have an address, that doesnt exist in GPmapa of poland, but it does in CNE. So I have to select it in CNE. But GPmapa has a much better updated road-network (there are a lot of constructions right now), so I would like to get routing through GPmapa. When I select the address through CNE, it only displays the CNE map...
Any solution to this? Does anyone else see more choices to search for an address? (At the screen - select country - Poland, GPmapa Poland)

Thanks

Great release!!
Thanks a lot for uploading this great map and for all the support provided through this thread.

For HTC Touch Diamond users:
I've installed Garmin Mobile XT, which you can find in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=252&t=40191
After that, I've copied the map provided by pipi9 100 (this thread) to the Garmin folder in my internal memory and job done! Works perfect!...

Greetings!

Maybe you remember I have asked for the turkey map included in your fine release:)
In the meanwhile I've downloaded the IMG files for Greece and Turkey and put them in internal memory of my nuvi , while you're original map is on the SD card.
The device recognizes all of the maps, the two in his internal memory and the many others in your IMG file.
When I am searching, I can find with no problem every greek and turkish address I want, but every time I am trying to calculate a route to one of this addresses the device will quit after about 50%.
I have tried many addresses , and many settings with no success.
The problem appears to be Bulgaria because it doesn't appear in the list of countries that I can search addresses in .Even if OFRM Bulgaria v4.60 appears in Map Info I can’t find Bulgaria anywhere when searching for an address.

Any help would be really appreciated .

Sorry no clue what could be the problem...

Try disabling some regions/maps.

I have tried deleting the maps I have added and before that i have tried disabling everything except the countries needed for the route.
Still no Bulgaria in the country list.
What is curious is that the map is really there I can see it on the display. I just can't find it in the list :((
