Hi, i'm pretty new here :) nyway.. anyone else getting this bug with the WM6.1 ROM - the items on the Home/Today screen keep on scrolling up until they are completely out of view. Resetting causes them to appear again but they start to scroll up again each time you return to the home screen. So basically you have an empty Home/Today screen.. ??

Is there a way to fix this? I've tried looking for any funny entries in the registry but so far i've not had any luck..

It seems that most people are after a cleaner and better working version of what they already have, save a few exceptions. Better to get the simple things right than the complicated things wrong I always say :) If we had only a bug free 6.1 I think that would be a tremendous accomplishment.....or a 6.5, whichever has more demand I suppose. Any chance of seeing something like this? Nothing fancy, just a 6.1/6.5 rom that is exactly like the one from HP but just that it works better?

I'v had same problem. The fix is to remove some unusable proggies from windows/startup folder and clean the list of today plugins. (What I remember, it was some supr-dupr program which make fullscreen in today or change behaviour of icon panel or what. My memory is very limited :) )

Hi Keltek.. more info.. lol. i've tried deleting those entries but i'm not sure i'm doing the right thing. could you give a bit more detail please? :) thanks..

Hi everyone, managed to fix the problem in the end. The program that causes the mysterious "scroll up" problem is called nueNoBar, so once all references to that program are gone/deleted the Today screen works again..

I second that !!! I´m not out to replace the original buggy ROM with another buggy one. I´ve been following the ROM thread on Brighthand.com where there have already appeared several different ROMs. Though I at first welcomed this effort, now I feel frustrated as there has been o lot of techy talk about cooking roms etc. which I don´t understand at all, but there clearly hasn´t been a reliable and safe replacement ROM announced. Could any of you guys who´ve upgraded your roms reading this share your experience and recommend a particular ROM. I don´t care if it´s WM6,6.1,or6.5 as long as it is finally going to work as the original HP - probly ´alpha´ROM should have in the first place! Thanks a lot for any input.

I've tried a few of the ROMs and of them all have only really found the 6.1 V3 by Globalbus to be the most stable and so have settled for this. I did endorse the version by Psymon but have since found it unstable even though it's from a genuine HP ROM. I'm not sure if it's normal but since I tried the Psymon ROM i have 20Mb more RAM than before. Everything still checks out in terms of memory allocations etc. but I just can't understand where the extra space has come from!

I hope this helps. All I can suggest is to try this  http://rapidshare.com/files/263212192/hpimage_ipaq_214_wm6.1_full_rom_by_Globalbus_rel3.7z ROM.

Cheers,

Eric

Hi, eckka. Thanks for the immediate reply. Do you find the Globalbus V3 ROM worth upgrading from the original one then ? Do you get any of those issues typical of the default ROM like freezes, wi-fi icon getting stuck, general laziness and instability of the system while using the coooked one ?Cheers

I've found the ROM to be much faster than the original, easier to get around and it's nice to finally have it run in 'Real VGA' mode, at least in the menus anyway!

After you flash the ROM it does a 'Clean Boot' and then after you've gone through the usual screen calibration it asks you to 'OK' a reset after which you can begin to load your software. I've got SPB Plus 4, SPB Time and SPB Backup running as well as CorePlayer 1.32, YouTube, Resco Explorer, TomTom 7 and a few simple games. All run flawlessly and I have not had problems with WiFi or Bluetooth. By the way there is no WiFi / Bluetooth icon as in the original version. There's a new Connection Manager which takes a little getting used to but it works just as well. This is part of the Today Screen and can be shifted wherever you want it.

If you want to upgrade then I suggest that this is the way to go.

Cheers,

Eric

Hi Eric. I´ve succesfully reflashed to WM6.1 v3 by Globalbus. The system looks nice and feels snappy. However, by default, there are no soft-keys on Today Screen, or only the keyboard icon is visiblen and the bottom bar doesn´t respond to touch. Shall I change someting in the settings of WMTask or elsewhere ? Can´t figure it out-seems like a bug to me. Any idea ? Cheeers

I think I deleted the shortcuts to MortButtons and WM5NewMenu from the startup folder. The other option is to check the settings in the Programs folder . It's actually a while since I did the original install  and can't remember exactly but I can assure you that there are no bugs that I can see. I use SPB BackUp and have always simply done a restore of a system backup - a good idea if you like to try new ROMs. If all else fails do a hard reset and then delete whatever you think is unnecessary from the startup folder.

Good luck,

Eric

Yes, I have. That´s been running great so far. I prefer not to have any extra soft preinstalled.Except, perhaps, for the SRS WOW HD. :D Cheers

I have a question, please:
I got an iPAQ 214 and I've tried few ROMs, but I'd like to get back the initial ROM setting.
I've tried a HARD RESET [Record+Windows Key+OK Key+Reset] but it didn't work...
PLEASE, WHAT SHOULD I DO TO HAVE BACK THE INITIAL ROM???

Thank you!
